ANOTHER STAY or LEAVE PUZZLE

In the UK this month we have a referendum on leaving or staying in the European Union.

Can we learn from history?

These US puzzles date from just after World War One. One promoting JOINING and the other STAYING OUT of the League of Nations.

Keep the US out of the League of Nations.

This unusual design of Glass-Top Puzzle contains a thick walled hemisphere, and one steel, & seven lead balls.

Getting all the lead balls on the wall while leaving the US off is made very tricky due to all the relative diameters.

Get the US into the League

Another interesting design: One ring is fixed over Versailles and the other is loose. The loose one must be maneuvered over the Capitol building filled with all the balls then be moved next to the fixed ring while the balls are moved into the Versailles Ring.

So with hindsight who was right? Could anyone have guessed in 1920?
