SCOTT'S ENIGMA

Back in 1970, eminent dexterity puzzle collector Eileen Scott found these 15 pieces in a laquer cabinet, mostly full of Chinese ivory puzzles. Having failed to make a puzzle she sent us the bits asking us what they made or what piece might be missing and this was the result.

Ten years later in 1980 we, at Pentangle, started making a much larger version marketed as Scott's Enigma. Subsequently it has been copied by many people, but the original inventor, probably around 1850, remains unknown.
