TWIDDLE PUZZLE

A wonderful idea for a puzzle, let down by the materials available in the 1960s.

A chain of triangular prisms with a word printed on each of the 80 surfaces. Object to find 13 proverbs one at a time. When found each is complete on one flat surface.

Made of wooden blocks covered with paper which acted as both label and hinge, they were not at all durable.

In 1979 Pentangle, commissioned Bart Philips to make a limited edition in cocobolo wood.
This was a fantastic puzzle with Bart's improved hinges, and then in conjunction with tom O'Beirne Pentangle produced two variants. Sadly they were too expensive to produce commercially so only a small limited edition was made.
