A RUBBER OF WHIST

Made around 1900 in Germany these amusing porcelain ashtrays depict a wide range of subjects, some innocent and some very suggestive.

In this case three men are impatiently awaiting the fourth player so they can continue their game of Whist.

The 4th man is nowhere to be seen!

However rub some cigarette ash onto the back of the ashtray. There he is sitting Solo on the toilet. This is an additional play on words as the card game is "Solo Whist"
