Devinette Plate

These children's plates, in which one had to find a hidden person or object, were very popular in France in the 19th Century. This one was made by Faiencerie de Gien (A pottery founded in 1821 by Thomas Hall, an Englisman who wanted to introduce fine pottery to France).
